We are so glad to share that our MALS alumnus, Yihan XU, in collaboration with our former MALS teacher Prof. William LITTLEWOOD, presented a study about self-transcendent motivation in the 21st AsiaTEFL International Conference (AsiaTEFL 2023) which was held in Deajeon, Korea on 18th August. In this quantitative study, metaphor was used as a tool to elicit students' conceptions in learning a second language. Students' relative strength of motivation at two stages of learning--intermediate stage and advanced stage--was estimated. The presentation was so well-received and we cannot be more proud of Yihan’s achievement!
