We are at once delighted and disheartened to announce that our esteemed teacher, Prof. John WAKEFIELD, is going to retire in January 2023. 

Prof. WAKEFIELD has been a prominent scholar and committed teacher who has made tremendous contributions to our MALS programme, and he will be greatly missed by students and colleagues alike. We have all benefited from his teaching, which has made him one of the most popular professors in our programme, and from his research, which has been an inspiration to us and especially the Cantonese-speaking community. We are also indebted to his leadership and commitment when he served as the MALS Programme Director in previous years which has strengthen the MALS programme. In addition to his laudable career, John has also been a friend to all of his colleagues with his courtesy, thoughtfulness, and congeniality. He is a true example for us all.

Please join us in extending our best wishes to Prof. WAKEFIELD as he starts a new chapter in his life! Thank you so much, John, for your incredible contributions to our programme. We will certainly miss you and we hope you enjoy your future adventures with your family during the well-deserved respite!
